the new laptops are smaller still!

  1. It is no surprise that the computers are becoming smaller and lighter then ever. I think it will be great for students as well as people who travel for work. Haveing something so light weight and compact will be great for travel.

  2. I like the idea of having a smaller piece of equipment to carry around. That is also a nice amount of weight, along with 3 textbooks. However, I am not really a fan of having one because of the way the look. The computer is smaller, well that means they screen is smaller and the keyboard is smaller too.

  3. smaller, lighter laptops will always be popular and have huge advantages. But how small are they tying to get, i like to actually see the screen. Another thought is how sturdy are these new machines, anyway they look really cool.

  4. I like the idea of a subscription service to trim our costs. For a number of people, the cost of computers can be prohibitive. Smaller laptops are good, but I am more interested in lighter laptops. I do not entirely like the idea of smaller screens. However, I accept it as a necessary loss, because smaller is better. They should also have longer battery life. Great for life on the go.

  5. I personally would like to have a bigger laptop. It's easier to use. When they get smaller then it's a little harder to see. It's great for someone to carry them from class to class but since i don't need a laptop in my class then i really have no need for a small laptop!

  6. It doesn't surprise me that lap tops are getting smaller. I can't wait to have a smaller lap top. Mine is soo bulky i cant stand it! Although smaller is not always better, they will become better with time. A quick side note...I would never ever suggest getting a DELL computer to anyone! I have had so many problems with mine, and I have the warranty to cover it. Well, the warranty involves sitting on the phone with people in India that don't really care about your problems, after having my lap top for 6 months, it ran so slow, and it crashed. Since then, it has crashed 4 times, and the warranty does not do a thing. I have spent over 48 hours with people in India and have gotten nowhere. If you want to speak with someone who talks english and will do something to help, you have to pay $200!

Its ridiculous, never buy a Dell! I wouldnt suggest it to my worst enemy!

  7. I always thought "bigger was better" but I guess that shows how cyclical life is. I do agree with Matt that a lighter laptop is more convenient than a smaller one.

  8. He talks about always being connected with these small laptops, and I'd have to say thats one of the most reoccurring themes I have seen throughout the technology of the future. The computer and more specifically internet connectivity is at the base of so many of the new technologies we will see in the future.

  9. Computers are smaller and lighter then before. I have seen some of the smaller version and it is easy for me to type on them because I have small hands but imagine some of the bigger hands I think they would have a problem with the smaller buttons.

  10. I really wouldnt want my lap top to be any smaller than what I have now..I think mines a 15 or 16 inch. If you are like me and get head aches from straining to see, then a smaller screen would not help at all!

  11. This is a trend i thi nk that will continue to snowball. Smaller & faster, this only seems like a good thing, efficient in many ways--energy, space, ect...

  12. I wonder how much smaller they are going to try to make laptops. I think they are fine the way they are.

  13. Who would have thought in this day an age that a laptop would shrink to the size of a CD, but at what cost? Hard to see the letters and numbers, easier to lose and probably less durable. They say it's faster and more convenient, and it very well may be, but I am a little old fashioned give me a laptop the size of a notebook and I'm happy.

  16. The model showcasing the computer sells it...
Good idea, it was only a matter of time.

  17. This smaller laptop is a great idea especially for students. Carrying a "regular" size laptop can be heavy and cumbersome but this is much more convenient for every day on the go use. By the way...the model completely detracts from the laptop. Here we have an innovative piece of technology and this dippy looking model who is posing with this thing and potentially has no idea what it does.

  18. The smaller laptops get the better! I'm in the market for one right now and the portability thing is really key.

  19. well nano isn't always better when it comes to focusing your eyes. Sometimes there is a perfect balance between large and small and you must find that piece. Many will be uninterested becaause they can not see the numbers and letters. But what struk me was the womans mo-fro (mo hawk or afro). WHat a crazy but new turn of hair styling technology. Its rediculus how retarted she looked lol

  20. Watching that video was sad. That poor model…the only work she could get was holding a laptop. Eye strain is not better. Hunched over that little keyboard is not better. Small is not better. Ergonomically correct is better.

  21. Netbooks are becoming VERY popular. I work at Best Buy and we sell a ton of these. In fact, I am going to buy one for my sister on her next birthday, little to her knowledge (it should be a happy 12th birthday!)

  22. I actually posted a very similar blog to this. Only difference is that the the laptop that I researched is even smaller than this (the size of a cell phone). I honestly don't like laptops this small, as it makes things more difficult to read on a screen or to type on a miniture keyboard.

  23. The Dell Mini's are an outstanding deal, but be careful about the 3G Data plan subscription subsidy. ATT will say is unlimited data usage per month, but there is a 5GB cap on the amount of usage for it. There is much speculation that the Dell Mini 10 model will be dropping to $299 for the summer time which is a sweet spot for netbooks. And if that wasn't all, they make for great Hackintoshes, as it is fairly simple to get Mac OS X Leopard working on these machines, saving many people the absurd cost of purchasing the similarly sized Macbook Air for $1799 (for clarification I am a Mac owner, but dislike their prices).
