I like the idea of sharing both natural fossil fuel energy and renewable energy. This will preserve the fossil fuels long enough for renewable technology to catch up and become the lead energy producer. Using wind when the weather is bad, but winds are high, solar in the opposite scenario and fossil fuels during the grey windless days, should sustain us into the future, but we have to start soon.
The real energy source we should look into is nuclear energy. It is safer than people think. Although there is the chance of a meltdown, our modern technology will do a lot to prevent it. Maybe it cannot meet all of our expectations, but on that slim chance, it would still be of benefit. The important thing, however, is to move away from fossil fuel.
