  2. WOW!!!!! I am not sure I would feel safe in a vehicle that I am not in control of.

  3. I would love to have a kind of vehicle that drives itself, but the technology to make that safe has not arrived yet. There are so many people that would love this, but its probably too expensive to afford!

  4. This would be pretty cool but not needed. Are we really that lazy to not be able to stear our car?

  5. To ride in this car would be surreal, I drive between work and school and my boyfriends house so much that to be in a car and not have to do anything. Cars like this would never work on major cities and roads.

  6. A car that drives it is kind of like a single serve version of a bus. I do like the idea of the car parallel parking itself simply because I am a horrible driving and the car would probably do a better job than I would.
    Have they named it Kit?

  7. Pretty impressive technology to say the least. I understand the reason for developing this, but I would never find myself behind the wheel of something I couldnt completely control.

  8. This car would be great, but can it make up for other vehicles on the road? It's no good to barrel down the street at 45 miles per hour only to rear-end someone. The need for potential emergency human input is another damper. The idea is to get away from this. However, it is good for those who often get lost or don't know exactly where they're going.

  9. No matter how cool it seems (and yes I love it,) I don't think people are ready for it, or that it is ready for people. There are just too many variables on the road, as well as with the driver today that I can't imagine can all be covered by this vehicle. I also don't think that we as humans are ready to be so hands-off driving since it has been such a hands-on activity all of our lives. We grow up watching our parents drive and waiting eagerly to get our license so we can drive. To take the ability to actually "drive" away from us would make it just plain dull.

  10. I agree with Adam. A car driving itself is great in theory, and from a technological stand point it would be a great breakthrough (well the technology is here, so not so much a breakthrough as an engineering feat). But, learning to drive is such a large part of our culture, and even though some people make driving dangerous and infuriating, to many it is worth it. Driving is not just a large part of transportation in America, but it plays a great role in social aspects of our lives.

  11. I have thought about this concept, especially on roads like toll roads. If enough cars could be equipped with this type of technology, as a car pulls through a toll it could be uploaded with the course that it needs to take for the driver's destination, and manage that against the other traffic and find a quick, safe avenue for the vehicle to get to its destination.
