The following is an interesting article about technology predictions that haven't materialized. Some of these are actually rather amusing.

The point of the article was to show that evolution is generally unpredictable. If it were, then there would be no failed products. For example, the Betamax was physically superior to VHS. However, VHS won because of the huge price difference and minimal quality difference. Wait, bad example, they should have seen that one coming. The point of that was that sometimes, things are easily predicted. It doesn’t take a college degree or a psychic to figure that out. Also, some of those predictions were true, but altered in context to be false. This was not meant to be malicious; the term has changed in meaning.
